What’s this? I’m trying to blog once a day for 50 days! Inspired by Forking Mad and Lou Plummer.

Have you ever had a brush with celebrity? Write about It.

Yes, in various capacities. One thing I will say about myself is that I get extremely starstruck. I’m shy to begin with, but put me in proximity of a celebrity? I have no idea what to do! Fortunately, it hasn’t happened very often.

The one time I can remember that I actually interacted with a real celebrity was when Miranda and I went to Ellie Kemper’s book release at 92nd Street Y. She held a book signing after where we waited in line to get our copy signed and briefly chatted with her. It was fun! Several years later, we also saw her running in Central Park.

Another way I’ve seen celebrities is at things like Broadway shows, concerts, and TV episode tapings - although, I would argue those don’t really count, since that is expected and I was generally in a large audience (Seth Myers came into the audience and stood pretty close to my brother and I though!)

Celebrities I’ve seen on the street/out and about in New York include Al Roker (I think we might have the same barber?), Kelly Ripa, John Mulaney, Nick Kroll, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, and Michael Cohen - yes, that Michael Cohen.
