2021: Time Spent Indoors
If there’s one song that’s actually stuck in my head at the end of this year, it’s the Millennial classic “Indoors” by our boy Spongebob.
It’s been a pretty big year for me, but one that has mostly been spent indoors, and like I imagine is true for most people, it’s kind of been messing with my head. In June, I started a fully-remote job at GitHub and this has been a really great lifestyle change for me. It allowed me to run 100 miles (not all at once), for one. Also - potentially the biggest news - I got married!
On Leaving
Leaving Amazon was a difficult decision. I really feel like Amazon gave me a huge opportunity - I used my first position at Shopbop to move to New York City and it gave me the financial means to get pretty comfortable here. Just before I joined, there was an New York Times exposé. In four and a half years there, I gained a lot of experience for which I am thankful. I have more to say, and maybe in 2022 I’ll make a post about it.
Suffice it to say, I’m glad it happened, and I’m glad I left.
On Marriage
I got married this year! Miranda is wonderful: she really is the love of my life, someone who I have never felt more “myself” with. While marrying Miranda was a momentus occasion, neither of us think that our relationship “began” this year. It began seven years ago and marriage was the next logical step! Enjoy a gallery of one picture per year of our ongoing adventure.
On Music
Throughout the year, as with all years, I’ve had a constant background soundtrack of oldies and goodies - mostly oldies. I’m not sure the playlist this year reflects much about myself of my state of mind… maybe that’s for you, whoever is reading this, to decide.
